Upper Murray Walking Tracks
Many of the tracks are suitable for families and boast spectacular views and an abundance of flora and fauna. With crisp mountain air there is something for the adventurous who seek full day and multi day hikes to those seeking the experience of diverse landscapes, town trails and places the whole family can discover together.
Extend your adventure
On many walks, you will travel near creeks or can make your way to waterholes or waterfalls; great to cool off on a warm day. At many of the locations you can park and enjoy a picnic or barbeque (weather conditions permitting) before heading off on your walk. The foothills of the Snowy Mountains, where the tributaries of the Murray River make their way from the mountains and through scenic valleys you are sure to find a path.
Walking is an accessible form of exercise for all ages and abilities. A series of mapped walks are available to help you discover the new and unknown areas with trails connecting you to other paths and points of interest.

- Avondale Garden walk, Shelley is the original site of a homestead, remembered now by the diverse deciduous trees. Great place for a picnic.
- Lawrence Lookout walk, Shelley offers a spectacular view of the Australian Alps.
- Mountain Creek walk, Shelley is a short, pretty walk that runs through green forested slopes and moist gullies. Best when done with informative flyer.
- Boggy Creek Trestle walk, Koetong is a short, forested and shady return walk of less than 1km takes you to another of the remarkable High Country Rail Trail (HCRT) trestle bridges.
- Conic Range walk, Koetong is a rocky outcrop, a prominent feature of Mount Lawson State Park from which there are superb views across Lake Hume, the mountains of New South Wales and Victoria.
- Dry Forest Creek trestle walk, Bullioh takes you for an easy walk along the High Country Rail Trail (HCRT) to the Dry Forest Creek Trestle Bridge - the first in a series of historic trestle bridges.
- Waterfall and Darbyshire Hill trestles walk, Bullioh is a pretty as a picture return walk, climbing Darbyshire Hill to include the historic trestle bridges Waterfall and Darbyshire No. 2.
- Granya Falls walk, Granya is a satisfying return walk in the forested slopes at the base of Mt Granya. Combine with a picnic either at Cotton Tree campground or the historic Scout Hut.
- Mt Lawson summit walk, Burrowye is a walk for the views. A panoramic spectacle surrounded by flora and fauna to keep your eyes open for
- Corryong Circuit Trail, Corryong connects points of cultural, natural and historical significance around Corryong township. Much to see.
- Playles Lookout walk, Corryong provides an almost 360 degrees of sweeping views across the Corryong valley to surrounding mountains. Picnic tables, amenities, walking path and bike track.

REGIONAL, STATE & NATIONAL PARKS
There are a range of natural environments with significant conservation value as the region is surrounded by Regional, State and National Parks including Burrowa-Pine Mountain National Park - home of the monolith Pine Mountain, Victoria's Alpine National Park and Kosciuszko National Park for those seeking a day trip to climb Australia's highest Mountain - Mount Kosciuszko. Many enjoy walking the trails around Thredbo Valley while experiencing the High Country.
