Weaving over 300 km through vineyards and bushland, over vast rivers and through picturesque villages skip the highways and discover the Snowy Valleys Way. From Beechworth in Victoria’s High Country, meander eastward before heading north through the western foothills of the Snowy Mountains to Gundagai in NSW.

The Upper Murray greets you as you climb into the foothills of the High Country. Be prepared to be awed. The Murray Valley Highway has many points of interest including the High Country Rail Trail. Don’t want the road to end?

MURRAY VALLEY HIGHWAY

This touring route starts in Tallangatta, the town that moved in the 1950s. The well maintained Murray Valley Highway provides opportunities to stop and explore beautiful historic trestle bridges between Bullioh and Koetong. Koetong is home to the Koetong Hotel, one of the oldest in the area and frequented by beautiful native birds. The route leads to Corryong, home of the Man from Snowy River Bush Festival and the final resting place of Jack Riley, 'The Man From Snowy River'.

Locals consider the drive along the Murray River Road between Bellbridge and Corryong the inland equivalent of the Great Ocean Road, with majestic valley views of the Murray River around every bend.
